Unity with Nature Listening Meeting, Friday, May 8

George Fox and other early Quakers had a hope that if enough people responded to T/truth then society itself would change.  Concerning ourselves with society's current challenges involving the earth's health, this Friday, May 8 we seek to borrow some methods of early Friends to "wait in the light" together.  We will seek to discern T/truth and even Guidance by listening deeply to the Life and Power within.

We offer the following queries to read and ponder, to help prepare internally for our "listening meeting" on Friday.  You are not expected to bring along answers to these questions.  Bring food or snacks for a potluck at 5:30pm, and then we will begin our meeting at 6pm.  See you there!  If you need any additional information, please contact Shane Piccinini at (775) 741-4283 or by e-mail at shane@tahoe-blue.org.

  1. Consider what might be called "right relationship" between humans and the whole community of life on earth.  Ask of yourself:  What am I doing right now in my life to contribute to that relationship?  What am I doing that damages it?  Ask of your Meeting:  What are we doing as a Meeting to contribute to that relationship?  What are we doing that damages it?
  2. Many British Friends speak already about a testimony on "Sustainability."  Pacific Yearly Meeting is laboring now under a concern to produce a similar new testimony, so far considering such titles as "Harmony with Nature," "Unity with Nature," and "Care of Creation."  What does it mean, or what would it mean, for a new testimony such as this to be created?  What might it mean for me, personally, in my spiritual life and witness?  What might it mean for the spiritual life and witness of Reno Friends Meeting?  What might it mean for the spiritual life and witness of Quakers everywhere?
